Surya Mani Rai is a tour operator based in Nepal and he organizes the reliable and trustworthy trekking in Nepal, tour in Nepal and mountaineering in Nepal.  Besides, he also organizes the trekking, tour and mountaineering in Tibet and Bhutan. Mr. Surya Mani Rai began his career as an assistant in trekking when he was 16 years old. After working as a trekking assistant for some time, he got trained to be a guide and worked as a guide for a quite long time. Mr. Surya Mani Rai got the depth theoretical and practical knowledge about how to organize the tour, trekking and mountaineering in a safe and professional way. At the same time, he also developed an entrepreneurship skill. Because of the theoretical and practical knowledge as well as entrepreneurship skills related to the tourism business, he legally established the trekking agency in Nepal. In fact, Surya Mani Rai had already established the trekking agency in the partnership model before incorporating Journey Point Treks and Tours company. The old trekking agency has been already closed and Journey Point Treks and Tours is in operation in one soled share holder trekking company. After incorporating the trekking agency, Mr. Surya Mani Rai is playing the role of managing director in Journey Point Treks and Tours Pvt.Ltd

Since tourism is a season-based work in Nepal, he continued further study. Working in the trekking, tours and mountaineering in the main seasons, he studied a post-graduate degree in Economics having tourism economics as a major subject, at a very young age. Besides, he also studied post-graduate degree in Law ( Master degree in Law-LLM). Mr. Surya Mani Rai believes in neither the human being exists nor the tourism activity can be carried if the environment is damaged. Therefore, he advocates in the issues of environment and climate change . He  provides the legal aid for free to the poor and disabled people. Similarly, he sues and  pleads the cases related to the public interest litigation, in the court of Nepal. Likewise, Mr. Surya has the work experience of research activities conducted in issues of tourism and social-economic .  Furthermore,  he has worked as a research consultant for the external monitoring and evaluation (M & E) of ​different projects, Baseline and End line surveys, need assessment and impact assessment. In addition to this,  Mr. Surya Mani Rai has worked as a tourism expert  to formulate the tourism master plan and as an economist to make the periodic plan for local government.  He has good knowledge about the qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method which are applied for the research work. Moreover, Surya Mani Rai also is interested for social work. Therefore, he involves in the social work himself and spends some part of his income for the social work. Not only getting involved in the social work, he also motivates others for social work.

As the hobby of Surya Mani Rai is to trek and hike, he sometimes goes for trekking, tour and mountaineering either at the beginning or end of the season to understand the fact of trekking destination. At last, the journey of life which began as an assistant in trekking  has been changed into a professional tour operator.
