
KanchenJunga is a third tallest mountain in the world and second tallest in Nepal. The altitude of KanchenJunga mountain is 8586 m. KanchenJunga mountain lies in north-east part of Nepal . KanchenJunga West and Kangbachen are located only in Nepal whereas Three of its five peaks KanchenJunga Main, KanchenJunga Central and KanchenJunga South are directly on the border with the Sikkim of India. KanchenJunga is still least tourist explored area though the beauties of the nature is very attractive. The reason why KanchenJunga base camp is still comparatively less explored by tourist is that the tourist needs more days to visit the KanchenJunga base camp . However, nowadays, the road is being constructed that the road helps the tourists to go to higher places of KanchenJunga base camp by local mean of transportation. Although it is called KanchenJunga mountain, there are other more than twelve adjoining snow-capped mountains. So , the tourists can enjoy looking not only KanchenJunga mountain but also more than twelve adjoining snow-capped mountains.
The altitude of KanchenJunga base camp
There are two base camps in KanchenJunga . One base camp is KanchenJunga North base camp and another is called KanchenJunga South base camp. The altitude of KanchenJunga base camp is 5140 m from the sea level. KanchenJunga base camp is also known as KanchenJunga North base camp. KanchenJunga North base camp is also called Pang Pema . And, altitude of KanchenJunga South base camp is 4840 m from the sea level. KanchenJunga South base camp is also known as Yalung Base camp. The tourist can visit both KanchenJunga North base camp and south base camp if the tourist makes the KanchenJunga circuit trek. It means that if the tourist crosses the selele pass, then only the tourist can explore the KanchenJunga North and south base camp.

Mountains:
The mountains are considered as one of the major attractions of Himalayan based tourism. Limbu community which is one of the ethnics of Nepal and who follows the Kirat religion calls Phoktanglungma in Limbu Langauage to Kumbhakarna mountain and they worships to Kumbhakarna mountain believing as a god.
Culture:
KanchenJunga region is mainly inhabited by Rai and Limbu communities who follow the kirat religion. when you visit the KanchenJunga region, you can see the Rai and Limbu culture. As Rai and Limbu are ethnics of Nepal, they have own mother languages and cultural ceremony of birth, marriage and death. Sakela dance is one cultural dance of Rai which is celebrated twice a year by playing the drums in the circle in which the Rai community wears the traditional dress and ornament . The interesting thing is that, in circle, Rai dances acting of the bird and wildlife, in sakela dance. In the Sakela dance, the Rai community prays to the nature not to have dry, flood, landslide. The important of Sakela dance is that, the Rai community prays to the nature to have good harvest and crops . Likewise, Limbu community celebrates the Yalang and Kelang Dance. Kelang Dance (Dan Nach) is celebrated by shacking hand of man and women and singing the typical song of Limbu which is known as Palam. Kelang Dance is never celebrated by shacking hand between the man and women who fall in the blood generation and between closed relative. The typical song of Limbu which is known as Palam is related to love , life, work and death. Kelang dance is celebrated by playing the drums in the circle in which those who dancer acts of the bird and animal. Sherpa, Tamang, Gurung, Magar, Ksetri communities also live in the area of KanchenJunga base camp, Except, Rai and Limbu.
KanchenJunga base camp trek is rich of Flora and fauna. You can see the wild animal like red panda, monkey, deer, bear and different kind of birds. Like wise, you will see different kinds of plants and flower including the rhododendron.
Temple and Monastery :
Pathibhara temple is a famous hindhu temple of Kanchenjunga region. Many hindu devotees come Pathibhara temple to worship from long distance. Pathibhara temple is situated at the altitude of 3795 m from the sea level , and the temple of god is at the top of hill from where you can see the panoramic scene of Kanchenjunga mountains range. Not only the Pathibhara temple, the monasteries belonging to Buddhist can be also seen from the the path to Kanchenjunga base camp trek.
