Annapurna Circuit and Tilicho Lake Trek only in 13 days:

Short description:

If you are interested to see world’s highest lake , Tilicho Lake and Thorong -La , but you don’t have time, don’t worry about it. You only have to make a plan, the Journey Point trek and Tour will make your dream happen. Tilicho Lake and Thorong -La pass lies in the area of Annapurna Circuit trekking. Considering that the tourist would more enjoy if they could visit the world’s highest Tilicho Lake which is located on the lap of Tilicho mountain (7134m), this program has included the Annapurna circuit and Tilicho Lake. Few tourists want to explore Tilicho Lake. You will go to Tilicho Base camp 3900m from Manang and stay overnight. Next day, in the early morning, you will go to Tilicho Lake to see the Tilicho Lake (4919m) and Tilicho Mountain, and then you will get back to Khangsar village. After that you will join the trekking path that comes from Manang, for Thorong La pass.

Detailed route:

Day 1 : Drive to Benshi Shahar from Kathmandu. Again, drive to Dharapani (1960 m): by local.

As you have short time, you will directly go to Dahara Pani in same day from Kathmandu. Firstly, you will go to Benshisahar by Bus from Kathmandu . Then after, you will have to catch a local jeep for Dharapani from Benshisahar. You could go further than Dharapani by a jeep but you will have to stop in Dharapani because you go further than Dharapani in same day, you may have altitude mountain sickness.  

Day 2: Dharapani to Chame (2710 m ) 5-6 hours

Today’s hike will take you through dense pine and spruce forests accompanied by the enchanting sounds of the Marsjandi River. Approaching Chame, the landscape changes to drier, rocky terrain. Chame is the headquarters of the Manang district and offers a magnificent view of the Annapurna and Lamjung Himalayan mountains.Chame is located on the bank of Marsyangdi River.

Day 3: Chame to Pisang (3300m): 5-6 hours

As you leave Chame, you will hike along steep and narrow trails with dramatic changes in scenery. Dense forests give way to a barren landscape surrounded by high mountains. Pisang is a picturesque village with a unique blend of Tibetan and Nepali cultures. The village offers panoramic views of the Annapurna mountain range and a chance to experience the local way of life.

Day 4: Pisang-Manang: 6-7 hours

If you continue your trek, you will pass Upper Pisang which is a Himalaya village decorated with prayer wheels and an old monastery. The trail offers fantastic views of Annapurna second and third.  and the surrounding peaks. When you reach Manang, you will see a charming village nestled in the mountains. This is a very important acclimatization day where you will have the opportunity to get to know the village and its cultural heritage.

Day 5: Manang: Acclimatization day

Today is the rest day.  Having rest allows the body to adjust to the high altitude. Take a short hike to nearby attractions or explore the village. Manang is famous for its ancient monasteries, such as the Braga Monastery, where you can enjoy the silence and witness the daily rituals of the monks.

Day 6: Manang to Tilicho base camp (3900m 5-6 hours

After the rest day, you will go to Tilicho Base camp taking the different path than the path which goes to Pedhi from Manang. You will take a left path from the last village of manang, and cross the Marsyangid River and goes gradually up to Khangsar village. After reaching Khangsar village, you will take a south-west path towering to Tilicho peak.

Day 7: Go to Tilicho Lake (4919m) and get back to Khangsar village . 6-7 hours

Today, you have to wake up very early to go to Tilicho Lake. The trekking path goes up and you have to go up about one thousand meter higher than Tilicho base camp. If you are physical and mentally good, you can reach Tilicho Lake about three hours. When you reach Tilicho Lake, you will see the captivating view of Lake and Tilicho Mountain. After spending some time, you will get back to Khagshar, having lunch in Tilicho Lake.

Day 8 : Khangsar village to Yakkharka 3-4 hours.

Today, you will join the main trekking path which comes from Manang. After having breakfast, you will go to Yakharka and stay overnight. Although, today is a short day, we stay in Yakkharka. You can go further but paying attention to altitude mountain sickness it is advised to stay in Yak kharka.

Day 9: Yak Kharka to Throrong Phedi (4400 m/15,092 ft): 3-4 hours

Today’s trek is relatively short as you head to Thorong Phedi, the base camp for the challenging Thorong La pass. The path leads you through rocky terrain with a fantastic view of the surrounding peaks. When you reach Thorong Phedi, you will be surrounded by towering mountains, leaving you in awe and looking forward to the next day’s adventure.

Day 10: Thorong Phedi to Muktinath (3800m) via Thorong La Pass (5416m): 7-8 hours.

Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of this trek. You will start early in the morning to cross Thorong La Pass, the highest point of the Annapurna Circuit Trek. The hill is steep and you feel the effects of the high altitude as you climb up. But the amazing view of the surrounding peaks and the sense of accomplishment made it all worth it. As we reach the pass, prayer flags flutter in the wind, marking this auspicious spot. From here proceed to Muktinath, a Hindu and Buddhist holy site known for its ancient temples and natural beauty.

Day 11: Muktinath to Tatopani (1200 m): 3-4  hours.

Today, you will go Totapani by Local bus. You have to take a bus from Muktinath. Tatopani means hot water in Nepali Language. There is a hot spring water with ponds in Tatopani where the you can take the shower. You will stay overnight in Tatopani.

Day 12: Tatopani to Ghorepani (2800 m): 5-6  hours.

Today, you have to walk only up by looking the seventh highest mountain in the world, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna South.

Day 13: Ghorepani to  Pokhara (1200m): 6-7 hours

Today is a long day. You have to wake up very early to go to Poon hill to see the Sun rise and picturesque view of Annapurna Himalaya range and Dhaulagiri Mountain. After spending some time, you will get back to hotel and have breakfast. After having breakfast, you will go down through the forest in the first part and the mountain village. Although you have to go down, valley with tier upon tier green hill and farming terrace with the lush forest makes your last day trekking more enjoyable. You will take a local jeep for Pokhara.
